Throughout her career, Lone Malmborg has focused on combining research and practice to create solutions to society's current and future challenges. With experience heading major research projects – both national and international – as well as a profile in research and educational programme design, Lone Malmborg will be instrumental in further developing CREATE's position as a beacon in architecture, urban design, media technology and design.
"In my work, I am passionate about creating positive change in society and for people through design, commitment and participation - a passion that aligns with what CREATE stands for," says Lone Malmborg
As a manager, Lone Malmborg’s focus is on inclusive and interdisciplinary environments where research, teaching and collaboration go hand in hand. She emphasizes staff well-being, diversity and strategic development, which will benefit researchers, students and administrative staff. She adds:
"I look forward to meeting CREATE's many talented researchers, teachers and administrative staff and to our future collaboration in an inspiring and ambitious interdisciplinary environment."
Lone Malmborg holds a Master's degree in Computer Science and Danish Literature from Roskilde University and a PhD in Computer Science/Informatics from Copenhagen Business School. Combined with her background as a researcher, teacher and manager in the design of digital technologies, Lone Malmborg brings with her a wide range of experience that will contribute to the continued strengthening of the department.
"I am delighted to welcome Lone Malmborg as the new head of department at CREATE. With her focus on strategic development and interdisciplinary collaboration, she will be able to strengthen CREATE's position as a frontrunner in architecture, urban design, media technology and design," says Dean Thomas Bak.
The new head of department replaces Hans Jørgen Andersen who as of 1 March 2025 will continue as an associate professor in the department.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Hans Jørgen for his significant contribution to the faculty management and his ability to strategically develop the department. Under his management, the department has experienced growth both in education and in external turnover, which testifies to his strong leadership and clear vision, says Dean Thomas Bak in conclusion.
Lone Malmborg starts in the position with her place of employment in Copenhagen, but she will also prioritize being present in Aalborg to ensure close dialogue and accessibility for all the department’s staff and partners.
