Create Integrated Architecture

Create Integrated Architecture conducts interdisciplinary research with a human-centered approach to architecture with the aim to design and operate sustainable built environments for human health and well-being. We regard integrated design thinking as paramount in research, education and practice.

Create Integrated Architecture is an interdisciplinary group of researchers which uses mixed methods in their research designs.

Create Integrated Architecture addresses:

  • health and well-being in built environments
  • sustainable architecture
  • digital architectural design in the face of climate change.

Health and well-being

The group applies a human-centered approach to architecture with the aim of enhancing health and quality of life of humans in built environments. The group researches human behavior and psycho-physiological impacts of buildings on humans - how people perceive and interact with architectural environments.

Sustainability and adaptation

The group researches climate mitigation and adaptation of built environments - architecture that is ambitious regarding life cycle impact and in healthy indoor environments not only in today's climate but also in a changing climate.

This implies architecture with sufficient means for:

  • comfortable indoor environments
  • sustainable human activity
  • fossil free building operation
  • circular materiality.

Digital architecture

Digital technologies and experiments enhance the group's research and inform design, production and operation of architecture leading to new aesthetics and atmospheres for new, retrofitted and transformed buildings.
