A Sacred Atmosphere – Rebild Bakker Kirke undersøger, hvordan en nutidig kirke kan udformes i tæt samspil med Rebild Bakkers særlige landskab. Projektet tager afsæt i kirkens forandrede rolle i det moderne samfund, hvor kirken ikke udelukkende forstås som en religiøs institution, men også som et sted for refleksion, fællesskab, sorgbearbejdelse og åndelig omsorg. Gennem en arkitektonisk bearbejdning af natur, dagslys, materialitet, stilhed og rumlige overgange undersøges det, hvordan et kirkerum kan skabe en atmosfærisk og sanselig oplevelse. Projektet arbejder med landskabet som en aktiv medskaber af det hellige rum, hvor bygningen ikke dominerer stedet, men i stedet indskriver sig nænsomt i topografien. Forslaget balancerer mellem kirke, kapel, samlingssted og spirituelt fristed og søger at skabe rammer for både individuel fordybelse og fælles ceremonielle handlinger.

A Sacred Atmosphere – Rebild Bakker Church investigates how a contemporary church can be designed in close dialogue with the distinctive landscape of Rebild Bakker. The project is based on the changing role of the church in modern society, where the church is not only understood as a religious institution, but also as a place for reflection, community, grief, and spiritual care. Through an architectural focus on nature, daylight, materiality, silence, and spatial transitions, the project explores how a church space can create an atmospheric and sensory experience. The surrounding landscape becomes an active contributor to the sacred atmosphere, allowing the building to respond carefully to the topography rather than dominate it. The proposal balances between church, chapel, gathering place, and spiritual refuge, aiming to support both individual contemplation and collective ceremonial moments.
