Abstract dansk:
Denne kandidatafhandling undersøger, hvordan brugercentrerede designprincipper kan forbedre den daglige lade oplevelse for elbilsejere, med særligt fokus på kabelhåndtering som en tilbagevendende kilde til frustration. Gennem forbrugerindsigter, markedsanalyse, iterativ prototyping og interessentresearch undersøger projektet, hvordan et koncept designes til et komplekst marked. Arbejdet fremhæver en vedvarende mismatch mellem eksisterende markedsudbud og reelle behov, hvor teknisk ydeevne ofte prioriteres over praktisk anvendelighed.
Projektet kulminerer i AXIS‑produktfamilien, der introducerer en intern kabelhåndteringsmekanisme, som giver en renere og mere intuitiv brugeroplevelse. AXIS er baseret på en modulær produktarkitektur, der muliggør opgraderinger mellem varianterne. AXIS demonstrerer, hvordan brugervenlighed, enkelhed og modularitet kan forme næste generation af hjemmeladere, hvor kabelhåndtering, opgraderbarhed og den samlede brugeroplevelse behandles som centrale designværdier.

This master thesis investigates how user‑centred design principles can improve the everyday charging experience for electric vehicle owners, with a focus on cable handling as a recurring source of frustration. Through consumer insights, market analysis, iterative prototyping, and stakeholder research, the project examines how a concept is designed for a complex market. The work highlights a persistent mismatch between current market offerings and needs, where technical performance is often prioritized over practical usability.
The project culminates in the AXIS product family, featuring an internal cable‑handling mechanism that delivers a cleaner and more intuitive consumer experience. AXIS is built on a modular product architecture, allowing upgrades between the variants. AXIS demonstrates how usability, simplicity, and modularity can shape the next generation of home‑charging products, where cable handling, upgradeability, and overall user experience are treated as core design values.
